Lyrics[]
Verse 1
I really wanna stop, but I just got the taste for it
I feel like I could fly with the boy on the moon
So honey, hold my hand, you like making me wait for it
I feel like I could die walking up to the room, oh yeah
Pre-Chorus
Late night watching television
But how'd we get in this position?
It's way too soon, I know this isn't love
But I need to tell you something
Chorus
I really, really, really, really, really, really like you
And I want you, do you want me, do you want me too?
I really, really, really, really, really, really like you
And I want you, do you want me, do you want me too?
Oh, did I say too much?
I’m so in my head when we’re out of touch
I really, really, really, really, really, really like you
And I want you, do you want me, do you want me too?
Verse 2
It's like everything you say is a sweet revelation
All I wanna do is get into your head
Yeah, we could stay alone
You and me, and this temptation
Sipping on your lips, hanging on by a thread, baby
Pre-Chorus
Late night watching television
But how'd we get in this position?
It's way too soon, I know this isn't love (Love)
But I need to tell you something
Chorus
I really, really, really, really, really, really like you
And I want you, do you want me, do you want me too?
I really, really, really, really, really, really like you
And I want you, do you want me, do you want me too?
Oh, did I say too much?
I’m so in my head when we’re out of touch (When we’re out of touch!)
I really, really, really, really, really, really like you
And I want you, do you want me, do you want me too?
Bridge
Who gave you eyes like that?
Said you could keep them
I don’t know how to act
Or if I should be leaving
I’m running out of time
Going out of my mind
I need to tell you something
Yeah, I need to tell you something
Yeah!
Chorus
I really, really, really, really, really, really like you
And I want you, do you want me, do you want me too?
I really, really, really, really, really, really like you (Oh oh oh)
And I want you, do you want me, do you want me too?
Oh, did I say too much? (Did I say too much?)
I’m so in my head when we’re out of touch

Writing and development[]
I Really Like You was written during the development of Jepsen's third studio album, Emotion, sometime 2014. The song materialised during a month-long trip to Sweden, which Jepsen took at the request of her record label. The song was written with Jacob Kashen and Peter Svensson, and was recorded between California and Stockholm.
The song was conceptualised as a follow-up to Call Me Maybe; one that could act to 'bridge' the gap between the sound and writing of Kiss and the 80s-inspired direction of Emotion. The song's creation came at the request of Jepsen's then-manager Scooter Braun. [3]
Announcement and release[]
I Really Like You was released as the official lead single for Emotion on March 2nd 2015. It was announced on December 17th 2014 via Interscope Records, with a release date given for early 2015. [4]
Music video[]
- § Main article: I Really Like You Music video
The music video for I Really Like You, directed by Peter Glanz, was released on March 7th 2015 - it stars Jepsen alongside Tom Hanks in the leading role, with an additional cameo appearance from Justin Beiber.
Pregnant version[]
An alternate version of the song was registered to multiple music repertoires such as ASCAP and BMI, under the title of "I Really Like You (Pregnant Version)" with an additional writing credit from Jeff Halatrax.
This version of the song appears to be the one used in the official music video, which features additional line, "I'm pregnant, just kidding", during the song's bridge. The registration of the song implies an official release outside of the music video was planned, though this never materialised.
Live performances[]
I Really Like You was premiered live during a performance on Good Morning America on March 2nd 2015.
