Lyrics[]

Intro
Cole: (Do you really think this is a good idea?)
Carly: I mean, no, probably not, but yeah
Cole: (Alright, see you at my place.)
Carly: 'Kay, see you soon

Verse 1
I'm complimented by your invitation
Did we crash into each other's lives?
Again, over night
I don't blame you for your hesitation
Will we only make each other cry again?

Pre-Chorus
I get so real
When I'm with you
You follow me high
Don't follow me low
'Cause on the occasion
That one's needing two
I'm ready to ride
Wherever you go

Chorus
I was wrong, I'm still into it
Did I lose your love?
When it's physical
Sometimes we get it so right
We can get it so right
(So right, so right)

I was wrong, no one's innocent
Did we fuck this up?
When it's critical
Sometimes we get it so right
(So right)
Baby, we can get it so right
(So right, so right)

Verse 2
Got in trouble with the new location
When you moved into my place
I'm new to someone all the time
After dinner, there was conversation
Dripped in paranoia
And it always turned into a fight

Pre-Chorus
But you know the deal
When I'm with you
You follow me high
Don't follow me low
'Cause on the occasion
That one's needing two
I'm ready to ride
Wherever you go

Chorus
I was wrong, I'm still into it
Did I lose your love?
When it's physical
Sometimes we get it so right
We can get it so right
(So right, so right)

I was wrong, no one's innocent
Did we fuck this up?
When it's critical
Sometimes we get it so right
(So right)
Baby, we can get it so right
(So right, so right)

(Sometimes we get it so-)

Bridge
Move closer to me
'Cause I know you see through me
Like I want you to read between the lines
Don't say you're sorry
And I won't say I'm sorry
Yeah, we don't need the words to make it right

Chorus
Sometimes we get it so right
We can get it so right
Sometimes we get it so right
Baby, we can get it so right
(Did we fuck this up?)
Sometimes we get it so right
(Move closer to me)
('Cause I know-)
We can get it so right
(I want you to read between the lines)
Sometimes we get it so right
(Don't say you're sorry, and I won't-)
Baby, we can get it so right
(We don't need the words to make it right)
Baby, we can get it so right

Background[]

So Right is a song from Jepsen's sixth studio album The Loveliest Time. The song's title was first revealed alongside the announcement of the album's track listing on July 18th 2023. The song is about how things work out "so right" physically. [2]

Writing and development[]

So Right was originally written by Jepsen with Nate Cyphert and her now-fiancé Cole M.G.N., sometime between 2020 and 2022 during the development of The Loneliest Time. Carly and Cole later reworked the song in 2023 with a spoken word intro for its inclusion on The Loveliest Time.

When it came to reworking the song, Carly explained how it felt that it had a "cinematic story" and "so much narrative to it," and that she wanted to reflect in the song's production. She recalled, "I was like, “We need to go there,” and [Cole] was like, “What do you mean?” I was like, “There needs to be motorcycle sounds and rain, and then I should be like, ‘Is this a good idea?’ But I need to be talking to someone, it’s a phone call.” Before you knew it, I had him on the mic. We recorded it two times and we were like, “That’s it. Let’s put it in.”" [3]
